I have an older HP DC7100 . It has p4 prescott 2.8 , 512(2x256) ddr400 , pci-e , 340w psu . This is a tower not a slim or small form style case . I removed cover and there seems to be plenty of room for video card along with two open slots for memory .
And yes , i want to upgrade . I have been searching around this site and others for a good gpu for this setup . I have read others opt for psu , more ram , cpu , all together new machine , etc.
I`m thinking of adding either - 3650 or 4650 along with more ram . I am considering either card because of price and low power requirements . Any thoughts on how this will perform ? Gears of war or something similar ? Anyway , is this good gpu and cpu setup ? I mean good like this upgrade cost me $60 and i can play cod4 or i just wasted $60 and it took my PC with it . Thanks .

power supply : 3v-24a , 5v-19a , 12v-12a , 12v(cpu)-12.5a , 340watts
So , this psu has dual 12v rail . It is noted on label that 12v2 is cpu - is this dedicated to cpu ? leaving 12v12a for rest of system ? Mobo has 24 pin and cpu has 4 pin . Thanks again .
I now have all parts installed - gfx card , ram , and bigger HDD . Catalyst 9.2 updates will not work for some reason but i have installed ms framework 2.0 and am ok with ccc 8.? . The overall system performance has definetly increased and the few games I have tried run great . So , all my (re)search has paid off , saved money , improved performance , had fun doing it . Now to go shoot more zombies . . . . . . . .Thanks .
