Has someone been able to install an E6x00 in the HP Lithium-UL8E motherboard?
The HP site says: "•Supports Pentium D (Smithfield) up to 3.2 GHz and Pentium4 (Prescott) up to 580 and 670 ".
My computer has a Pentium D 830 and runs really hot and sucks up a lot of energy, I'm looking for a better option.
I'd like to hear someone who upgraded successfully.
Thanks

I doubt it. While the motherboard uses the same socket (LGA 775) as the Core 2 Duo E6x00 series, the BIOS may not be capable of supporting newer processors. Unless of course, there's a firmware update that you can install to provide this kind of support.
