i am sure i am going to be S.O.L but i have 2 gigs of pc3200 ram out of an old p4 build i am in need of a motherboard and cpu that can run 1080p mkv video files with out a drop in frames ( trying to build a cheap htpc ) are there any motherboard out there that can use that ram ( i know ram is cheap but i am trying to do this for under 150)

sum it up need a mobo that can run a dual core cpu and use pc3200 ram

my parts
350 watt psu 24 pin
ati hd3450 hdmi
2 gigs pc3200 ram
so for around 150 it would be nice if i could get a cpu/mobo/case

The ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813157115 does, but if I were you I'd spend $25 on DDR2-800 MHz memory and sell the PC3200. That motherboard only has a PCIe x4 slot, but it should be fast enough for your video card.

hmm maybe but i am not sure about that wimpy pcie slot with my hd 3450 ... is pci-e x4 able to handle full 1080p bluray(mkv) on a 40 inch samsung

If you want to keep your PC3200 memory, then it's your only option.

http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdo [...] =3024&p=1. It looks like it's fast enough to handle an 8800 GTS which is faster than your HD 3400 video card.
