is a 1gb worth the price dif for a 1440x900 monitor?

depends on the game. take gta4 for example. 1gb will give you more eyecandy (but not performance). but at that low resolution why not a 4850 1gb instead?

It would only be worth it if you like pumping up the AA to 4x or 8x other than that the 512mb should do ya fine.

The difference isnt much(1GB wont make much of a differnece)especially for your resolution,my vote goes for 512MB version.

Probably almost the cost of a 512MB 4870 which will have more horsepower for his res.

The 4850 1GB is much more then the 4870 512MB. The 4870 has a higher core clock and the added memory of the 4850 wont make a difference at that res...go for the 4870 512MB
