Will a board with sata3 ports support a sata1 drive?

i am considering an upgrade for my atx case and see that all high end boards have sata3 ports. I have a fairly new sata1 drive and wish to keep it if i can. will a sata3 configured board work with this drive?

Yes, it's fully backwards compatible.
