All,

How does one view local channels *through* a DirecTV receiver? This
is for someone who doesn't subscribe to local programming but still
wants to use an off-air antenna or a cable connection into their TV.

Assume the TV only has one RF input. On the back of the receiver
there's a cable connection into the ant/cable input as well as the
sat-in input.

If someone had a spare receiver (not currently activated) would this
still work or does the box need to be activated for it to *know* to
look at channels 1-99? I've seen it before where someone had channels
1-99 allocated to cable (non DTV) channels.

Thanks.

Greg

There ya have it.
Plug yer TV antenna into that ant/cable input, and when you turn off
the receiver, yer watching the local, off the air stuff, where the
channel selection is done via the TV.

If your TV has to be "programed" to see those "FTA channels", then do
so.

Then turn yer TV back to channel 3/4, and turn yer receiver back on to
watch the Satellite.
It really is that easy.

I see now. This is how I remember the config. The reason for my
original question(s) was to determine if I could use a DTV receiver as
a signal converter using the S-VID out. Obviously if the receiver is
powered off... I can not.

Thanks for your reply.
