There is no standard and care has to be taken not to use the wrong charger. Even if the connection fits, it's important to check the Volts and Amps - they multiply together to give the overall rating so 19 Volts at 3.42 Amps (an example from the laptop I'm using now - = 65Va and that's the crucial figure.
Of the three laptops I have in for repair right now, I have:-
Toshiba 15.0 Volts 3.0 Amps = 45 Va
Hewlett Packard 18.5 Volts 4.9 Amps = 90.65 Va
Dell 19.5 Volts 3.4 Amps = 66.3 Va
