Bent CPU pins - fatal mistake???
So I thought I would be pro-active and remove my CPU to clean off the several years worth of dust caked on it.
After cleaning, I reinserted it but my PC failed to boot up. I pulled the CPU out again and saw that about 3 pins had been bent. I meticulously re-straightened the pins with a wooden toothpick, and, even though the pins seem to be inserting correctly, it still won't boot.
Have a just bricked my CPU?
What I am experiencing:
- Blank screen
- No beeps whatsoever
- HDDs and DVD drives spin up like normal
My setup:
- CPU: AMD Athlon 3800
- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro-SLI (AMD Athlon™64 X2/ 64 FX/ 64 socket 939 platform)
- Memory: 2GB DDR400
- GFX: NVIDIA Geforce 8800GT
Thanks!
