Hi there,

I am looking to build a new pc with the x58 boards (with i7 920) and the gtx295........Would DX11 need a whole motherboard upgrade or is PCI-E 16x enough (bus power or speed or whatever wise? I only ask this question to allow future proofing. I understand that windows 7 is coming out end 2009 or start of 2010, and dx11 will be included, which of course mean that new gpus will be out. I know this is an ambiguous question and probably noobish, but just wanted to know.....

thanks

CSingh

p.s. pls be nice :na:

its going to be years before not having a dx11 compliant gfx card is going to stop you playing the latest games. and as far as I know, there are not any such cards yet.

Its not really directX thats the issue, more that newer cards can take advantage of new technologys and effects that direct X allow access to via its api.

Just buy your nice new card and forget about it.
