Yes, its legit. But keep in mind that clock for clock a Pentium D will lose to nearly any C2D processor out there.

Legit? Yes, but for that price, get an E8500. It'll be a hell of a lot faster.

Are Intel D's true dual cores? But yea, a C2D could pwn that CPU.

They are. In fact, IIRC, that one is a dual with HT, so it would show up as a quad.

Only buy a Pentium if you have enough LN2 :P

And you aren't afraid to OC to ~8GHz.

Look back at the benchmarks when the C2D line came out. Even the 6300 most of the time could beat the 3.73GHz EE P4s. Intel stretched that pipeline out so far that clock for clock, nearly anything could beat it. The only way the P4 competes is having lots of clocks, so 8GHz is needed to compete with the newer chips.

Pentium D's run hot, and are beaten by C2D's easily.

i found this thing on special for around 100 bucks, which is like a 50% rebate. is it worth the price?

Worth maybe 50 dollars tops these days. I just picked up Two 3.6Ghz Xeon's for a hundred dollars.

I would still say a C2d, such as the E7200, will be more worth your money.

Check it out Intel is dropping it so there are going to be a lot of them Out there surplus.

It is slower then a Core 2 Duo...
