Hi, Just a quick question regarding timings for the RAM I have on my computer:

Elixir 800MHz ddr2 (4x2GB sticks)

Part code: M2Y2G64TU8HD5B-AC

Number on Sticker: PC2-6400U-555-13-E1 800

I have been fiddling around with the timings and am still unsure what the tightest recommended settings are. On auto settings in the bios the RAM was running at 5-5-5-18 I think.

Internet research seems to suggest that the default is 5-5-5-15, however the sticker number seems to suggest 5-5-5-13? Sorry if this is a noob question and I understand that the tRAS makes only a tiny difference to memory speed but I would value your advice as to what timings to use.

Thanks!

I would use those printed on modules/stickers, as its data provided by the manufacturer. Pretty much any mobo will put any ddr2 800 ram on 5-5-5-18 by default.

What does the SPD tab in CPU-Z show for 800 MHz? If it runs at 5-5-5-18, then that's most likely what's in the SPD table.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I believe CPU-Z has 5-5-5-18 in the SPD table for 800MHz operation. I've currently got the RAM set to 5-5-5-15 and seems fine so far. I was interested to know if the sticker on each of the RAM sticks with PC2-6400U-555-13-E1 800 meant 5-5-5-13 or if it was just some random digits? Cheers

You'll probably have to contact the manufacturer to know if 555-13 really means 5-5-5-13. If it does, then the SPD should also contain an entry matching it.

I would have assumed that 555-13-E1 800 means 5-5-5-13 at 1.800v, but thats just guessing really. Drop elixir an email? :)
