I have had a Dish Network 500 system since 1998. I moved last month and the
Dish representative people tell me I can't get the DVR receiver like they
are giving to new customers. I can have the new dish movers "dish" but not
the promotion. What gives. I've been a paying customer for almost 8
years and they won't give me something they will give to new people off the
street. Any suggestions on what existing customer have been doing? Is it
time to move on to the other dish company?

I've heard this with existing Dish and DTV customers... for whatever reason
both of these companies aren't interested in taking care of their existing
customers.

You can probably get a great deal going thru DTV...

You are already a customer so go screw yourself... that is the exact
thinking of both DISH and DIRECTV.

You probably got some sort of a *one time only* special new customer
deal when you first signed up.

I learned the hard way to be courteous and patient when dealing with
giants. What you do is before you divorce your current provider, inform them
you will give them one more chance to deal with you. If they give you the
new subscriber deal, then stay. If they refuse, then switch. I have done
this many times with long distance providers, cell phone companies and
internet providers and sometimes they'll see it your way but if it they
don't just switch (for a while). Competition is a wonderful thing. Use it to
your advantage! ;^)
