I am trying to install a HP Officejet Pro 8500a networked printer. Everything was going fine until the install tried to the scanner.
I am getting the message that it could not find serscan.sys I have been googling and all I can find is to load the XP install disk and copy it from i386
Problem: I have put in a Del install disk, and a iso xp home install disk and there is no serscan.sys file on them.
I cannot locate a xp professional install disk. Therefore, I need to download serscan.sys from the internet.
If someone could direct to to an URL that I can download, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.
Find driver.cab on your Windows XP install CD. It should be in the
\i386\ directory. If you have purchased a computer with Windows
software pre-installed, search your hard disk for this file. Computer
manufacturers often place this and other Windows install files in a
directory like c:\msoft so that it's easy to add more Windows
Unzip this file to your desktop in a folder called DRIVER, using
an utility such as 7 zip. It's large and will take a while.
Start the installer for the HP 8500a software again. Once it's
found your printer over the network and asks you for serscan.sys and
sRGB.ICM, navigate to the DRIVER folder you unzipped to your desktop.
The installer will continue.
