SD Card or SDD HD

Just curious, is there a major difference between using a SD Card vs SDD drive specifically made to be a HD as a boot drive.

is the SD card's access time going to be significantly faster than a regular mechanical hard drive? obviously more stable.

I'm just trying to figure out the cheapest route for a flash hard drive for my own curiosity. and if need be for saving space.

  1. i'm afraid most SD cards might be slower than a standard hard drive. it looks like compact flash would be a better way to do it, slightly faster than a 7200rpm drive, but still much much slower than SSD.
