Hello!
I'm going to buy more memory for my old computer, but i don't know which one to choose or how.Old computer has only 512 ddr memory (Kingston KVR400x64c32/521).I found Corsair DDR 1024MB(2x512) 400MHz CL2.5,but i don't know if it fits.MotherBoard is Asus K8N4-E Deluxe. If it doesn't fit,can u please tell me which one to buy.

More information about old ram : 512mb pc3200 cl3 184 - Pin Dimm
Link for Crosair ram http://www.ox.ee/est/product/16094

Can i use DDR2 memory?

Many Thanks.

All the Best,
Henri.

Use only ddr; you can't use ddr2 or ddr3. I would suggest one more 512 stick. Someone in anandtech's for sale forum was selling them for $15. Many old boards won't recognize 1 gb sticks of ddr.

Thank you for quick answer.i got 3 socets.what about 2 x 1 gb.i get them quite cheap like 80 dollars crosiar 2 of them. Then i think ill leave 1 socet open.

Maximum your ASUS socket 754 MB will run is 3 GB in single channel. Corsair and Kingston are reliable RAM and their DDR PC3200 400MHz. should run fine in the MB. You might want to buy 3 new 1 GB DIMMs and not use the 512 Kingston you have and max out the system RAM. If you are still unsure about DDR 400Mhz. running in your board run the MB through these RAM configurators and find memory guaranteed to work. You MB will not run DDR2 of any kind.

New Question.are those better rams? Crosaris (DDR, PC3200 2GB 2x184 DIMM, Unbuffered, CL3 (2x1GB Kit)).I'll remove that kingston and only use they. Then i would be 2gb of ram and it's enough for XP.

Forgot to mention I have a similiar ASUS socket 754 board. When all three slots are populated th RAM speed is decreased and will not run at 400MHz. I use two slots and 400Mhz. is reached. I currently use 2 x 512MB Corsair DDR PC3200 XMS 400Mhz.
