Hey.

I'm building a new system after having taken some much appreciated advice from posters on here.

I've gone for an AMD 6000+ dual core @ 3Ghz with 4Gb's of 800 Mhz RAM.

I was going to get a Radeon 4850 as it seemed the best value for money but atm it seems the Radeon 4870 isn't all that much more.

I came across this overclocked 4870.

It seems like a good deal. Is it worth getting an overclocked card or am I safer getting a standard one?

Are Powercolour ok? I've not heard of them before. The price seems very good.

Thanks for any help.

PS. How large a PSU would you guess I need with that config?

Hello

1. Is there a reason for AMD 6000 X2? Since there are better ones from AMD...

Thanks for the reply and links.

Looks like it will be a good time to buy one over the next couple of weeks.

I chose the 6000+ due to price\performance plus the fact that with the mobo supporting higher level CPU's I can upgrade to a Phenom later on.

With the 6000's high clock speed it should do ok for most games with a card like that. I'm not too fussed about getting loads of extra cores at present as I don't see too much software fully utilising them, so I thought I'd go that way and upgrade CPU if\when the extra cores\performance ratio has improved.

That was how I was thinking. I thought it was a good budget gaming option.
