I built a new system and when I start to install the OS it takes 5 minutes for the green Install Vista screen to fully load. It will load the green screen pretty fast but nothing but the pointer is there for about 5 minutes. Then the Install Vista finally shows up.
No reason for the with a 3.0 gig processor, a velociraptor and 4 gigs of ram.
I have tried Vista 32, Vista 64, Windows 7and it stalls on all of them in the same spot. Have also tried different HDDs.
I only have a one HDD, video card, ram, one dvd drive hooked up as well.
Any clues?

Just thought I would add my $.02. I have had the same problem as you with installing Vista X64. It takes an absurd amount of time for the menu to load, but once it does the rest of the installation is a breeze. I also installed on a Velociraptor, and my old raptor drive both had delays at the same spot. I think it might just be a version of the Vista installer. Hope this helps.

As long as windows Installs fine, i would just ignore the long load before install thing.

It may just be the way it detects hardware. My 7 did the exact same thing(but i did not need any (r)aid drivers :) ) as did my Vista 64, but after that you never see it again.

i've noticed strange differences in loading times for the vista installer. my old dell p4 loaded the vista installer in about 30 seconds, while it takes my current athlon x2 machine about 2 minutes. but if it installs fine, i wouldn't be concerned by it.

+1 to Oakley707

I had that with my HTPC with a Gigabyte mobo aswell.
Turned the setting to SATA as IDE , and it worked flawlessly.

I noticed it happens alot on AMD based M/B`s the intel chipset kicks in within seconds so i guesed that the default chipset the loader has is the intel one.
