Best time to buy i7?

I am interested in building a new gaming PC and this question is burning through my head. Is this is a good time to buy the i7 or should I wait for the price to go down when something new is released?

the time to buy i7 was a few months ago, before December for gaming, and before Nehalem Xeon's came out for workstations.
