I've got an used asus L1N64-WS, mounted barcelona 2358SE with one module ram ecc-reg and, as expected, system don't beep nor boot at all.

I've found those links on the internet:
http://www.esnips.com/doc/7692003c-ebcc-4072-babc-34ea3e7394da/ASUS-L1N64-SLI-ASUS-WS-B-0401

They provide two modded bioses. I understand that the 301 version has to be flashed using an old opteron together with ecc-unbuffered dimms. The 401 version seems to be suitable for L1N64-WS boards to be "converted" into L1N64-WS/B versions. Anybody opinion would be welcomed.

Thanks

I don't understand: you're saying you flashed your BIOS using an old processor, to make the mobo compatible with a newer processor, and you still can't use the newer processor?

I've got only quad-core barcelonas, which are not supported by L1n64-WS. I'm going to buy a new bios chip, but my question is: which is the right .rom file to flash it? To date the system don't post with 2x2358SE cpus. thanks

I've bought a new bios chip, with the 0506 L1N64-WS/B ROM installed, and averithyng works, with a few ecceptions:
1) Overclock is disabled for SE cpus
2) Fan speed managment don't work properly
