Hi,
I am new to these forums, but I am hoping to gain some advice on a decent motherboard.
The computer I am building has these components:
-i7 940 (2.93ghz) CPU
-Radeon HD4890 Video Card
-2x 1TB HD's (RAID 1)
-8 GB RAM
What motherboard would work well with these components? I have a good sized budget, so I am willing to shell out a bit more if it allows me to make upgrades over time, install more RAM in a few years, etc.
If you want to know, this computer will be MAINLY for HD computer animation/editing, with some gaming on the side.
I'd go for the 920, on sale for $199 again at microcenter, if you can travel to one of their stores. Newegg has the msi x58M for $169 that may have everything you need. I had good luck overclocking with msi boards in the past.

I'm not sure about overclocking this. I won't be gaming much, and I want it to be very stable for rendering. Are you sure about the 920? I do have some cash to burn on this build and I don't mind shelling out a bit extra.
