I'm running an M-Audio Revolution sound card. Would it be possible to make sure that I'm not using the onboard sound? Can I reload the M-Audio drivers? I want to make sure the card is functioning as good as it can before I jettison it, because I'm not crazy about it.

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks!

Just make sure your speakers are plugged into your soundcard and not your mobo port. If you are plugged into the soundcard and there are no conflicts in device manager, that should give you your answer. Either sound or no sound.
