Would this be a good choice for a Phenom II X4 instead of the stock cooler?
I don't intend to overclock at all, maybe 100-200 mhz tops but I'm not sure if it can keep one of these processors cool enough seeing as the cooler is a bit on the older side of things.

I want to avoid the huge 120mm coolers out there as they are simply too large.

Thanks!

yes that will do fine and you should get 200-400mhz overclock
and make sure you use good thermal paste

I would recommend the coolmaster Hyper TX3 thats a bit cheaper or the 212+ that cost a bit more (buts a 120mm one).

^+1 I agree the CM Hyper TX3 is a better cooler then the AC Freezer.
