Changed User/Admin password and now can't access Workgroup resource

I had a XP worgroup defined, it linked to a remote password protected hard drive on a network. Worked great for 4 months, then changed my user (which is the admin also) password) and suddenly the drive would not attach. I can see the workgroup, but when I click on the drive it now asks for the password (never did before) and if I type that in (I wrote it down so I know it) it does not work. Tried using the new user/admin password (even though that is different that what I had the drive password set to just in case but that didn't work either. I deleted the workgroup and recreated it but it still thinks I I have the wrong password for the drive. Can I recover that password for the drive? (I'm the only one who uses it)
