Is the GeForce GTX 260 fast enough to run games at 1080p these days? I'm thinking about upgrading my rig soon, and cant decide whether I should wait for the Radeon 4870 to drop in price.

FYI - I'm a casual gamer. I'd like to be able to run my monitor at 1080p, maybe 720p for the more demanding games (Starcraft II, Dawn of War II, etc). I don't play shooters (e.g., Crysis), or competitive multiplayer games. I'm fine without any anti-aliasing, v-sync, etc., but I'd like to have some shadows & lighting if my budget allows. The most important thing for me is a smooth framerate.

My current PC only has a Radeon 9800 128MB card, so I'm hoping to see a big difference.

Both the 4870 gtx260 are excellent cards go which ever is cheaper. I found this 4870 for 150$ which seems like a good deal. The gtx260 is selling for 180$
