you need to burn the iso image to a cd, cant remember what program I used tho sorry
after that its set your boot device to cd, then boot the system with one stick of ram in, it runs automatically, give each stick a good hour at least

i dl the iso zip file but i cant unzip it. it asks me what program i wish the open with?

i dl the version 4.1 from memtest.org and also tried the file from memtest86.com

both failed.

aah, sounds like you need to extract the file, sorry, thought you had done that ok,
erm, download and install winzip or similar, that should let you unzip and extract the contents, remember the version of memtest you need varies from 32bit to 64bit, make sure you have correct one :)

i have xp 32 bit. which file should i dl?

memtest 86 is for 32bit, memtest64, well :p 
Im off to sleep now, I'll look in later but Im sure someone else can also help you if you get stuck man, good luck

Unzip the file with winzip, winrar, 7-zip or some other program you choose, and extract the image to a place you'll remember (e.g. desktop). Then use nero or roxio to burn the image file to a CD. Then load the CD, shut-sdown and retsart, boot to your CD/DVD drive and memtest86+ will automatically start.
