I am looking at purchasing a computer and have narrowed it down to two different ones: one has an AMD Phenom X4 processor and the other has an Intel Dual-Core E5299 processor. My question is; which is the better processor, and why?

More about : amd intel

I couldn't find info on the E5299... what's online is mostly Chinese. Would you mind posting the specs here?

In any case, the Phenom X4 is a quad-core CPU. The E5299 is apparently dual-core. I'm thinking the X4 is more powerful. Not better overall, mind you, but more powerful.

Well I am guessing he is saying the intel E5200...
It must be a typo...
And like r_manic said, the X4 is a quad core and is no comparison to the E5200 in terms of price and performance...
The X4 would cost more than double than the intel dual core...
so comparing them is not correct...

a phenom 9600 is also a quad core , but you'd be better off gaming with an e5200.

Until the OP can tell us the exact models any opinions on here are worthless

If you're using highly threaded apps or major multi-tasking the X4 wins hands down. What specific X4 are you looking at and what will you be using the pc for?
