I know AMD just came out with their P2 955, but does anyone know or has anyone heard any rumors about when they will release their next CPU

Well I can suggest that you look through Tom's Hardware articles. They're pretty up-to-date when it comes to new hardware—or even rumors about 'em.

You probably won't find anything more specific than this.

We've got all the Athlon II stuff coming up this summer. A new batch of lower power mainstream Athlon II X4 and harvested from that Athlon II X3. There will also finally be a new native dual core Athlon II X2.

As far as a new flagship product, or new architecture, that is still some time off in the distance. 2011 for the new architecture, unknown if/when AMD will launch higher clocked Phenom II parts.

I imagine they'll have to if they want to compete...

I agree completely, Smitereen, but i do think the Phenom II series has been a step in the right direction

Of course. But Intel will come out with new parts as well, AMD will have to match them.
