Seagate 1.5TB HDD X2 for Raid0

1) I don't need a fancy case, and no LED and lots of fans (=noise) because it is in my bedroom.
2) Don't plan to use SLI or Crossfire.
3) Which graphic card is better? I already have a 24" LCD (1920x1200)

Um the Vigor Monsoon 3 LT Dual is a fairly large cooler...i doubt it would fit in that case. I would recommend a bigger case but a budget would be nice. As for the graphics card a GTX285 will outperform a 4870. But again, the 285 is a VERY large card, i doubt all these things would fit in that small case.

And lots of fan dont necessarily mean alot of noise, the Antec 1200 and Antec 900 are fairly nicely equipped and they arent that loud on low, and low with 4 fans is good.

The GA-EX58-UD3R can take two HD 4870 cards in Crossfire, but not two GTX 285 cards in SLI. At 1920x1200 you should definitely keep the option of adding a second card. You could do one of the following IMO:

- get a P6T motherboard (which supports SLI), a GTX 285, a larger case, and a larger PSU (1000HX is recommended by nVidia for GTX 285 SLI, for example_

- get a HD 4870 1GB (and keep the PSU/case/MB you have picked)

Measure the room available in the case, if you have it already.
The HD 4870 is about 9.5" long and the GTX 285 10.5".

Get a better, larger case as recommended from the comments above. A cooler master cosmos may be out of your budget, but it is a good cooling case and fairly quiet.

Google around for the info on the Seagate 1.5TB HDD ...heard they have a high failure rate....instead for for tried and tested HDDs like the WD 640 or 1TB or the Seagate 1TB...

DO NOT GET SEAGATE DRIVES...ESPECIALLY IN RAID 0. Seagate drives are the worst option right now, their firmware is faulty and causes failures like crazy and in raid 0 you have twice the opportunity for failure. Get WD Caviar Black drives, they are the fastest around as well as highly reliable. I would also recommend getting another drive to use as a storage drive since you are running raid 0.

Go with the P6T or Gigabyte UD4P, anything less than that you end up sacrificing some key features that x58 boards offer.

Check the CoolerMaster 690 and see if it fits in your budget, its nice and roomy and will fit all your cards and coolers, as well as having very good ventilation and at a very reasonable price usually.

If you aren't going to xfire or sli, then get a GTX 285 at least, a GTX 295 or 4870x2 would be better. But I would recommend getting the GTX 285 and getting another one for sli later, on that monitor you really shouldn't cut out that option, it severely limits you.
