I can't decide on 4870X2 or GTX295. I'm now leaning towards the 295. I'm building an i7 platform with 3 HD's and 1 DVD drive. Do you think the Corsair 850W will be enough to power this system or do I need to go for the Corsair 1000W. The 1000W is nearly £80.00 more expensive though. Also if anyone else out there is running a GTX295 let me know what PSU you have?

Thanks.

4870 X2 and 295 GTX exchange blows, though the 295 GTX does show some 10-15% in most games.

Also I would like to add that the 295 GTX reaches it's bottleneck much faster because of the lower amount of ram, where reviewers have seen game crashes with High AA, or High resolutions.

The GTX 295 requires 46 Amps +12 Volt, the minimum of 680w that nvidia recommended depend on the brand of the power supply. For example I have a GTX 295 with a Corsair 620W HX (Corsair 620W HX have 50 Amps and the whole system don’t use more than 470watt at load).

well it is my secondary, my main is in my specs excluding 3 280s which now is 2 285s:) which is powered byt Corsair 1000HX:)

430 Watt is doing fine in my secondary, Its a 280 GtX OC, with a athlon 5000+ clocked at 3.4 ghz.

I sold the 4870 X2 + 620HX that was in it to my friend, and decided to plump in a 430 watt psu with a 280 GTX and it worked;D

Blimey 280GTX for a second system. I'm jealous.

I'll stick with the 850W which from the sounds of things should run well and leave me a bit extra for more HD's or whatever in future.

Cheers.
