Hi all, Ive read the threads and searched the internet and havent realy found a good general step by step prosses for overclocking AMD phenom 9750's. I've ben able to over clock my cps using the "steping" settings in my bios but the max i can get is about 214(2.52ghz) before the blue screen. The defalt speed is 2.4ghz fyi. Im thinking its got somthing to do with when ocing the CPU EVERY single setting overclocks like the HT the Memory everything so that might have somthing to do with the freezing and blue screens but im at a total loss  any one have any ideas for me on how to get this to the most efficiant overclock my system can handle? System settings are: CPU- phenom x4 9750, HS zul 9700, RAM kinston 1066 with huge heatsinks http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104098, ATI diamond 4890 with an extra fan cooler right below in a pci slot. Case is VERY well ventilated

Read the overclocking sticky here. IF you have a BE then you should overclock with the multiplier. Be sure to set your HT link to 1GHz. If you overclock using the FSB then be sure to lower the settings for your RAM AND lower the HT link multiplier as well as the north bridge multiplier.

ok my HT setting will go down to 1k but right now its at 2600. The highest setting on the cpu multiplier is 12x2400 (2.4ghz amd) and wont go any higher. so should i lower the HT and restart so it will give me a larger multiplier mabye? im having all kinds of problems figuring this the ram thing out too. for some reason my mb wont let me set the timing for my ram to 5-5-5-15 (the standard timing for the ram i have) the CAS latency refuses to go lower than 6 and my tRAS wont go to 15 so i end up with 6-5-5-18. I have the settings in my bios but they wont stick when it reboots the mb and if i work at siting by the computer and reseting it 12-15 times eventualy with those settings it will boot into the bios. ive just left it at defalt at 5-7-7-24 wich is stable for some reason. Could i have a motherboard problem or am i just newbin this problem up?

Most original Phenoms topped out at 2.5/2.6GHz, you could squeeze the most of the 2.5/2.6'ers to 2.8 with ACC, some will hit 3GHz, and real good ones hit 3.1/3.2GHz.

If you have an SB750, make sure ACC is turned on, maybe you should give AMD OverDrive a try?

I tried :-( The AMD Overdrive program does not support the motherboard that I have. I am using an MSI Part # K9N6PGM2-V Model #MS-7309. This is why I was hoping to get a walk through on how it was performed. Anything has got to be better than the factory settings of 2.4Ghz. The processor that I just purchased, is the one located here.

Supposedly, it is the best quad core processor that could be found that this motherboard supports. The motherboard supports max 95 watts..

ummmm hope you reply soon. gettin my 9750 to 2.8 was not easy. its still a tiny bit unstable but only 1 crash playin crysis so far. best oc i was able to do is my kingston ram. stepping 2-2-2-2-5-5 what a difference that made and yess its at 866 mhz. Just want to find the SAFE voltage increase to up my numbers. my current temps are 33 to 35 idle highest ive seen yet is 42 on load overclocked.
b.t.w air cooling can b as good as water if you know algebra. figure out ur cubic foot of your case, then if your case is big enough add enough fans to move that amount in and out per min. my case is 18 cf. i have 4 fans blowin in 4 fams exhausting. It move actully 20 cubic foot min. for me same as runnin h2o.
update:
so far highest temp ive seen was 46 after playin games for 3 hours. still oc.ed at 2.8ghz. ht.at 1.8ghz. ddr2 866mhz. 2-2-2-2-5-5 no volt boost needed. all bout right ram!
