Ok so I am looking at getting one of these two monitors.....This one a samsung http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6824001276 and this one an Asus http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6824236046 They are pretty much the same monitor except for the fact that the ASUS has a faster response time over the Samsung. Does anyone have any experience with either of these monitors/brands. Why is the ASUS so much cheaper?? So basically anyone have any advice on which one to buy for my rig?? Money is not an issue so paying a little extra wont hurt if its gonna be a little better. thanks

I see some differences. The viewing angles of both are not the best 170/160 and 170/150 for the asus and samsung, respectively.
A good viewing of 178/178 h/v will keep the display from looking washed out if your head is not kept directly in front of it.

Samsung, I think is generally the better quality. They make the panels for a number of others, and I would think that they would keep the best samples for themselves.

I have used several of the "T" models, like the 244T, 305T, and 275T. They are outstanding. I particularly like the 275T because it is larger and the size of web text is more readable at native resolution.

I think you are on the right track, looking for the best monitor. It is one of the few "future proof" PC purchases you can make today. You will be looking at what you buy for a long time.

Both monitors use a TN panel so viewing angles will be somewhat limited and you will probably notice some color shifts near the edge of the monitor due to the limitation of TN panel tech.

Good 24" monitors with less color shifts than TN panels (along with slightly slower response times of 6ms) starts at around $570. These use S-PVA or P-MVA panel and viewing angles are 178/178.

The following is a good resource for LCD info:

Monitors using TN panel are generally good enough for the average user and they sell very well because of their low prices. But for those willing to spend extra $$$ for a good monitor there are the more expensive monitors that uses P-MVA, S-PVA and IPS panels.
