Hello,
This is my first post and I would like to say that this is a very useful site.
My 8800 GT recently died and I am looking for a replacement. I really like the MSI 285 GTX but I was wondering whether it is compatible with my XFX 680i LT motherboard.

Thanks in advance,
Baion

Why wouldn't it be? I haven't had problems with the GTX 285 on any motherboards.

Well because the card requires is pci express 2 and my motherboard does not support it.

Where does it say the card requires pci-e 2.0?

You are right it does not require pci-e 2. It supports both pci-e 1 and 2. Thanks for the help guys.

I would get a GTX 260 and with the money saved, buy a new mobo.

IMO a 260 and a new mobo is rather future-proof than a old 680i and a GTX 285. The reason I say this is due to the fact that eventually the mobo will bottleneck that 285 and he will have to shell out some money for a new motherboard anyway. Just my opinion....

....... KEEP this 680i and you futurproof buy gano be better when youll be ready to go I7 or I5. Buying a new 775 mobo ( that is old now ..... ) if just not futurproof.

Keep this 680i, squeeze everything that you can out of this 680I. I mean OC and have some fun until your buying something really newer.
