I just returned the Athlon 5200+ due to motherboard problems and incompatiblity, I guess you can call it that  . Well before I purchase another CPU, I plan to run the original Sepron for a little while. I bought some Crucial Rendition PC-6400 800MHZ 1GB RAM for the Athlon 5200+, but now I am afraid it might not work with the original Sepron.

In the NCIX website, it shows the Sepron AM2 architechure and states that it has a memory controller for 667MHZ, 533MHZ, 400MHZ, DDR2 RAM. Not the 800MHZ Ram, therefore I am asking this question.

CPU (Original CPU)
AMD Sepron Manila 3400+ 1.8Ghz 90nm Socket AM2 L1 Cache = 128KB, L2 = 256KB

Higher clocked ram usually has no problems running at lower speeds.

Thank you, so it'll clock to the DDR2 667 speed? Also can you run any RAM in dual channel? My motherboard supports it. And if I get the exact same ram will it work?

Should work with no problems. Even two different speed ram should run dual channel at the lower clock rate.

Thanks, sorry for the questions lol, is dual channel faster than single channel config.

but you would need to benchmark it to notice the difference it is nothing that you will notice with your bare eyes.

Thanks for your help! It works flawlessy, I can't even notice a difference.
