<------ It's funny.
Anyway, I recently discovered how possible building my own pc could be and in my excitement (after little research) I rushed in and bought the following:
7750BE
http://www.tekheads.co.uk/s/product?product=609934
CIT 400W Gold
http://www.tekheads.co.uk/s/product?product=604893
Asrock N68PV-GS
http://www.tekheads.co.uk/s/product?product=610008
Leadtek 8600gt TDH 256mb ddr3
2 x 1gb OCZ Platinum CL4
Initially I thought I was onto a winning combination of price and performance, but after loading up a game of crysis warhead on enthusiast (800 x 600 mind you) I was quite disappointed.
My plan was always to upgrade to a 4850 - 4890 asap (so graphics aren't a problem) but now I know to do so I'll need a beefier power supply, I was looking at this:
OCZ Stealth Extreme 500W or 600W
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/135159
As for the motherboard I think it performs OK as it supports dual channel ram up to 1066mhz, however there are a few problems I have with it:
-It only have 2 dimm slots, I'd like to have four so I could add another 2 x 1gb ocz set for a total of 4 x 1 gb.
-The position of the 2 dimm slots on this board limits the space around the processor which in turn limits my choice in after market cpu cooling which is a must as I plan to do some overclocking.
-This one is less of an issue... I'm also planning on buying a nice new atx case to house and cool all my new equiptment, problem is this board already looksa tiny in my matx case and would just look silly in a full atx case .
The case

Here are a few board I've been looking at:
xfx geforce 8300 (or any atx xfx board you can recommend)
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/164480
Gigabyte amd 770
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Gigabyte-GA-MA770-UD3-AMD-770-Sok-AM2plus-PCI-E-20-DDR2-1200-1066-667-SATA-300-SATA-RAID-ATX
Biostar 790gx 128mb
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Biostar-TA790GX-128-AMD-790GX-SAM2plus-PCI-E-20(x16)-DDR2-1066-SATA-3Gbps-SATA-RAID-OnBoard-VGA
The biostar is kind of overkill as i doubt I'll ever need more than a single 4870 but future proofing is important to me as I'd like to a solid board that I can upgrade with quadcore phenoms and powerhouse ati X2 gpu's should I feel the need, also 3 or 4 usb headers is a must as I intend to add card readers etc.
FINALY !!! Based on what I've told you what board would you recommend and how would you rate the ones I've mentioned (including my current asrock) especially the xfx board, I really like the idea of a clear cmos botton as opposed to shortcircuting jumpers - also It looks cool. Also the biostar 790gx was pretty much ideal price and feature wise, but I read biostar were really bad with rma and support in general and I had a look at other 790gx boards but most are a little more than I'm willing to pay for at the moment. Let me know what you think.
Edit: Sorry for the essay, but I'm quite confused .
