Dos system restore command

My computer crashed and I cant access the start menu to do system restore- it says the cover has been removed push f1 to continue or f2 for setup- when i push f1 nothing happens it just goes back to this screen when i pusfh f2 it goes to setup but im not sure how to do a restore or what i could change that would make it boot properly? any suggestions?
I have xp installed on this computer and it says error system/windows/32 how can i fix this/

Well, if you want to do a system restore from recovery console with your windows cd, then look here:
