Well I hope this information will be usefull for you, as Ive had my GTX260 for maybe 2 days now and all ive done was tweak it lol. Havnt even gotten through Crysis at all, I was just playing the first part over, and over, picking up the Red Flare on the beach and having it spark in my hand to maximize graphic load.
Test game Crysis. Graphics settings: 1280 x 1024, Settings: High, AA:4,8. (also varies Geforce Control Panel Settings)
Nvidia Graphics Control Panel settings: Application controlled for AA, Supersampling, Texture Filtering Quality = Quality, then pretty much anything else that favors better graphics over performance, vsync off.
Framerate 4aa: 24-45, (very intense graphics 12-20)
Framerate 8aa: 15-25 (very intesne graphics 6-15)
Nvidia settings VS AAx#; Now I didnt realy want to test each effect in the nvidia settings control panel so I mainly tested (Everything selected for "performance" ), vs (Everything Selected for "qaulity" ). I then tested that result agaisnt the effect of reducing Anti-Aliasing.
What I found while I was testing "performance" settings in nvidia was just a lot of dissapointment. It looked dull and like it lost all its luster. It must of been somthing dealing with light reflection because things didnt seem shiny anymore. And ontop of that I maybe gained 10 FPS.
Then came AA (Anti-Aliasing) what I found here was better. Going from 8xAA to 4xAA seemed to almost double my frames with not a real noticible lose of qaulity.
So I would say to go for High quality Nvidia settings and low enough AA to smooth your game play out enough to make you forget to look at your FPS every second .
Also in regards to Fan Clocking in Precision; I was noticing my GTX260(unclocked) get up to around 61c. Well during my high quality 8AAx Flare test It was getting up to 69c, which I thought was a bit high for my normal. So i clocked the fan up to 65% (from 40%) and ran the same test to find the Temp staying steady at 55c even idles 5c cooler. So im not sure if the factory fan speeds are just slow or what but if your pushing your card at above 85c make sure your fan setting isnt just on Auto (which doesnt seem automatic at all).
Hope this Helps

Also when your in a Medium-High graphical area wave your mouse back and forth and around in circles at a medium pace, if you notice your crosshair drag behind a little bit then you should try setting Maximum Pre Rendered Frames = "2". Default is 3.
I didnt realy think my mouse was lagging but after I set it to 2 I noticed my crosshair/view moved exactly as my mouse did.
Although there might be a slight loss of quality or "smoothness" with 1 less frame to rendered.
But for me in a First person shooter mouse precision is everything.
You should run everything at very high. I had a 9800GTX and I ran the Crysis settings at your resolution with everything but post-processing and another setting on VH.
AA set to 2x or 4x
