I have an asus p5n-e sli and I have recently bought an asus eah 4890 graphics card. The problem is that it only runs on 8x when it should run on 16x.
I have tried to change the red sli selector to single video card mode but the when i do that, the screen doesn't show any image at all. Please tell me how to put the video card running at 16x.
Thanks in advance.
System settings:
CPU: intel E6300 @ 1.86 Ghz
Mobo: asus p5n-e sli
graphics card: asus eah 4890
OS: windows XP SP3 32-bit
I have all the most recent updates.

Oh yeah, and make sure it's on single video mode. You are probably using the secondary PCI-E slot right now, so when you put the board in single mode all the PCI-E lanes go to the other slot, which means the slot your video card is in gets no lanes and is thus not able to communicate with the rest of the system.

The BIOS doesn't have any option to select between 8x and 16x.
I will try to put the video card in the other pci-e slot, though the current slot i'm using is the number one. I just wish that card wasn't so big... it's a lot of trouble to change it from one slot to another xD
I've made it run on 16x when I changed to single video card mode.
The problem is that with the eah 4890 the screen doesn't show any image at all however, when I connect my old Geforce 7600 GS on the same pci-e slot it works. Why doesn't the eah 4890 work on 16x?
