hi i play at 1440-900 an my monitor is 19" wide and 4x anti alaising and texture settings on extra

CPU is holding back the GPU, although 40-100FPS isn't that bad for a 9800 series, all things considered...

would a decent intel motherboard an an e5200 overclocked be enough for this gfx card as i dont really want to do a massive upgrade

Reply to chris66

That would be a minimal upgrade. You're probably better off getting a Phenom II X3 720 and putting it in the board you have.

40-100 fps is too low? lol

30 fps is the required for gaming, and 40 fps is considered very good. You prolly have an average of 70, which is basically at the limit of what the human eye can tell.

hi guys me again
ok so one of you suggested that i should stick a phenom in my current motherboard, but i have a question you see my motherboard is a little old and is am2 not am2+ will i still be able to run a quad phenom on this board or will i have to upgrade my mobo.

any help appriciated

thanks Chris

Reply to chris66

no you will not beable to stick the phenom in there, you would need a new mobo, and possible more depending on your current hardware.

You've got a small CPU bottleneck at that resolution, but its nothing to worry about. If you had something like a GTX 285 in there you'd really need to consider upgrading that CPU. As it stands its not enough to bother with. If you have a decent HS/fan try bumping your CPU up to 3.2 GHz (if you feel comfortable doing that). It would help a little.

Agreed. The 5600+ isn't a bad chip, it's around the same performance as an e6400 at least. Any bottleneck will probably only really show up synthetic benchmarks like 3dmark.

I wouldn't think that chip would bottleneck a 9800 gtx by much, but if so just try and overclock it.

^+1 for OCing. Seriously tough, 40fps in NOT bad. (Btw, is this on-line or single player frames you are giving?)
