I made a request to AMD questioning their web-site and they indicated that the chip would not physically fit even though it was 940 pin. Then they asked where I found the inforamtion.
The ASUS SK8N is a Socket 940 motherboard designed for earlier AMD Athlon FX-51 and FX-53 socket 940 processors utilizing DDR1 memory. The AMD Phenom X3 processors are socket AM2+ which also has 940 pins but of a different physical layout which would prevent the processor from fitting into the Socket 940 motherboard. Furthermore, the Socket AM2+ AMD Phenom X3 processors require DDR2 memory which is physically different than DDR1.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com

Where on our website have you see information stating that the Asus SK8N is compatible with Phenom X3 processors?
