Greetings everyone, as in the heading of this I have a Q9300 @2.5GHz (4cpu's). My problem is other than mandatory things running in the background and nothing showing up in my applications tab as running my CPU Usage is ranging from 50-52% constant. The small graph on my task manager under the Performance tab shows 4 green boxes and two of the boxes, the ones on each end, are peaked at 100% while the two center ones are barely able to be seen.
Any ideas on what could be causing this. The pc is just freshly installed about 2 weeks ago. Mostly games on here except for a few odds and ends programs, Khaspersky, Mozilla, Outlook, OpenOffice, NBOS RPG Cartography software, are pretty much the extent of my non-game software.
Here is a small break down of my pc:
Windows XP SP3
4GB Corsair Ram
Q9300 @ 2.5Ghz (4cpu)
Dual Nvidia 8800 GT OC 512MB
2 Seagate SATA 300GB HD's
DX 9.0c
Diamond Extreme Sound Audio 7.1/24 Bit PCI-E
Any help would be greatly appreciated I would hate for my CPU to have a heat stroke.
HA! I figured it out.. The spoolsv.exe regulates my...well hell here I will cut and past what I read and subsequently fixed due to the reading... I got this info from this site.
http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000914.htm.
" The spoolsv.exe is taking up 99%, 100% or other abnormal high amount of CPU.
This is caused when there are still printer jobs in the Windows spool. To manually remove these print jobs follow the below steps.
1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel.
2. In the Control Panel double-click the Administrative Tools and then Services.
3. Within services locate Print Spooler and right-click it and select Stop.
4. Once this process has been stopped leave the windows open and open My Computer and browse the the below folder.
c:\windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS
or
c:\winnt\system32\spool\PRINTERS
# In this folder delete all the files in the PRINTERS folder. Once these have been deleted you can right-click the Print Spooler in the Services window and click Start to re-enable the service."
Thanks guys for pointing me in the right direction. AwEsOmE!
