I am currently running an MSI K9A2 Platinum mobo. I am looking to buy a Phenom II. I know I need to flash the BIOS to do so. This is my first time attempting this and I would like to get it right. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just a warning from a friend, I thought i knew a pretty good bit of info about hardware and software, i mean iv been building computers since i was 15 and im 26 now. i had a memory problem last week and thought a bios upgrade might do the trick, i read all the warnings and blew right by them. well its a really really realllyyyyyy long story about what all happened so i wont bore you but.... lets just say i dont have a working motherboard now. i press power on the tower and the computer comes on for around 2 sec. no chance to press f1 or hold del key or do anything. tried to clear the cmos with the jumper on the motherboard, no go, its shot, so anyway my point is be really careful if your gonna do it but i dont recommend it. i say get someone to show you and do it for you the first time, or go find another fix. last resort flash the bios. take my warning cause tigerdirect just made 150 off me and my motherboard purchase lol.

follow the directions carefully and you should be fine, but it is generally considered a last resort.

Personally I've reflashed many boards and haven't killed one yet, but i have heard many stories like billy's

That is what I hear. I'm going to do it. Balls to the wall.

Follow the direction religiously. If you have a choice of flashing from a bootable floppy or from a Windows utility, use the floppy.

If you have or can borrow a UPS, use it. If not, well, I always flash late at night. The power grid seems more stable.
