How to clean up my D Drive on Windows XP

Hello,Today I spent several hours copying pictures to CDs. The way that I did this was to click on the folder and send it to my D Drive and then clicked on Copy To CD. It was working fine and then I kept getting messages that Windows could not copy the file. I checked the properties on D Drive and the space was full. I should add that I deleted each of these folders and did empty out my recycle bin after copying each folder. How can I clean up the D Drive in order to copy more files.

Ok, can you explain what a D drive is in your system? Is that an HDD partition, CD-rom, DVD-rom, etc?
