Hi everyone,

I have a question after reading the instructions for installing my new MOBO. I've decided to go with the GA-EP45-UD3P and will be installing 1 SATA HDD on the system (WD 6401 Caviar Black). The directions tell me:

"To successfully install operating system onto SATA hard drive(s) that is/are configured to RAID/AHCI
mode, you need to install the SATA controller driver during the OS installation. Without the driver, the
hard drive may not be recognized during the Windows setup process. First of all, copy the driver for
the SATA controller from the motherboard driver disk to a floppy disk."

My question is, if I'm only doing one SATA drive and a SATA optical do I need to do the floppy and floppy disk?

Thanks in advance :D ,
Paul

Xp .. Maybe

Many motherboards allow you to configure sata ports in native IDE mode and you shouldnt have to install a driver from a floppy . But if you do then you will have a faster hard drive installation as things like NCQ are turned on

Vista no

Hi Outlander_04 - so should I configure it as native IDE mode?

Thanks!
