Forum Storage : CD/DVD Drives Ide to sata adapter

I have two of these adapters that I am trying to use with a motherboard that has one IDE connector and two SATA connectors. I had an ide pci card but I did not like the way it worked so I tried to use these adapters in place of it. I had a hard drive and dvd drive as master and slave respectively on the ide connector and tried to put the other hdd and dvd drive as sata1 and sata2 respectively, on the motherboard connectors. It would not see the hdd on sata1 but would see the dvd drive on sata2. I switched them around and put the two hdds as master and slave on the ide connector and the two dvd drives on sata1 and sata2. Now I can't see the dvd drives at all but the hdd drives show up fine. I am pretty sure I am connecting them right so I was wondering if you could offer any help with this problem. Thanks. John
