im over clocking the AMD 965 BE i raised the cpu ratio by .5 until it stopped at 21.0 so ive been raising the voltage 1 increment at a time. im at 1.396 and it get through the splash screen, or windows screen, and blue screens or shuts down, and when it blue screens it hangs there. is this voltage to high? or what is to high for this cpu im new with AMD so not quite sure, and the web is telling me all different things.
ive seen people with this cpu saying there running at 4.01 ghz and voltage 1.503 and that seems high to me but im not sure...
it would help to know what your cooler/temps are, and also what stepping your CPU is (C2 or C3)
AMD says the max is 1.45v for C3, but evidence shows that it can take just as much as the C2 (1.5v).
I would be comfortable going up to 1.5 as long as my temps are below 60C, though I personally won't keep a permanent OC if it goes over 55C or 56C. Others say 1.55v is fine, and most say as long as your temps are fine, so is your voltage, but I don't think you could even get up to 1.55 without some serious air cooling or WC.
I got to 4.0 at 1.486v on mine, so maybe you should aim around there 1st. Remember, if you are only getting 4 or 5 sec, you aren't really close to stable at all.
ok well at 1.56 it still wasnt stable so do i turn down cpu ratio to 20.5, which was the last bootable one. and increase the voltage until it stable?
yea i am using WC and 5 fans so cooling isnt a prob. i was running at 1.56 temp around 54ish C but would only run for about 10min b4 bluescreening so im trying what i said above, is that the right step?
also im use the newest 965 he one that can only hold 1.45v c3 i belive it is.
