Need a little guidance please.

My Dad gave me an Emachine http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9170844&type=product&id=1218043606347

It pretty barebones :) The Mobo is a ecs mcp61pm gm http://www.e4allupgraders.info/dir1/motherboards/socketam2/ecsMCP61PM-GM.shtml

I wanted to add a new CPU, has to be under 89watts so I went with AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600 Brisbane 2.9GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103234

I really need to add a PSU, thinking about this BFG - 550-Watt ATX Modular Power Supply

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9175714&type=product&id=1218045945842

Lastly and most importantly I dont think my mobo has a PCI x 16 2.0? So I was thinking this might work? PNY - NVIDIA GeForce XLR8 GTS 250 1GB DDR3 PCI Express Graphics Card

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9262451&type=product&id=1218071135693

I am just unsure if all this will work with the Mobo, so if anyone can add any insight I would really appreciate it.

Hi

PCIex 2.0 is backwards compatible PCIex 1.0, a PCIex 2.0 card will work just fine. I have never owed a BFG PSU but my neighbor has a 1000W and I haven't heard any complaints from, his PSU is approx 2 yrs old.

Hey Jackyle. I have the same computer and motherboard as you. I just placed an order for the identical CPU. How did it work for you? Did you need to upgrade the BIOS before installing it? If you did have to upgrade the BIOS, can you provide a link to a fellow user as to where you got the download. Did you need to alter the CPU voltage in BIOS?
To your other questions. (I'm sure you have remidied them by now-looking at the date). You do have a PCI-E slot. I run a 500 watt power supply in mine with an XFX ATI RADEON HD 4770 graphics card. Both were simple installs. My system recognized the new hardware and I did not need to disable the stock integrated graphics.
If your still out there, indulge me. New CPU arrives tomorrow.

you can stick a 95 watt CPU in it aswell , (think quad core)
it may not last for years but if you don't constantly tax the system at 100% your going to be fine...

plus a 89 vs 95 watts is only running 6% over... thats not really that bad when it translates to added heat
to the mobo...as always , good cooling is essential...
