Just purchased a new system(specs below). I wanted to be able to watch cable television on my computer and record some of my favorite tv mini series. I will only have a free PCI express slot free. The Operating system is vista 64bit.
Two Tuners that work for me....ATI650PCIE and Hauppage 2250.
ATI650PCIE is a dual tuner/dual input. One HD-Tuner and One Analog NTSC. You can do multiview option on it.
Hauppage 2250 is dual Hybrid Tuner. The tuners can act as Digital, Analog, 2x-digital or 2x-analog. Viewing is only for one while the second is for recording.
Both are great cards except for ATI650PCIE software/driver issues. The AIT650PCIE don't work well with Media Center. I use this board using the software that comes with it. ATI software is not stable at all. ATI-PCIE has a better analog tuner.
Hauppage 2250 works well with Vista-64 media center and the software that goes with it(WinTV software).
I use my TV Tuner for HD-TV reception, viewing and recording. I don't care much about Analog TV at this stage.
Since using the 2250 i made several HD-TV recording from 4Gbyte to 27Gbyte. To test the card i recorded the last Grammy Awards night(including commercial). I watch and record at the same time. The recorded mpeg file ended ~27Gbyte.
My source is HD-Antenna.
Hope this info helps. I got my card from newegg.
