Ok was useing a 8600gts but that is now dead i went out a got an evga geforce 9500gt which seems to be a litle bet better then the 8600gts, now which of these 2 cards should i get, GeForce 9800 GT 1024MB GDDR3 or a BFG geforce 8800gts Oc new for $100, which one is best,

yeah i think your right the bechmarks show it's faster then the 9800gt and close to the 9800gtx, the 9800gts is faster by about 9 fps or so, it's sad you would think that the 9800 would be faster but it's not

This. Skip the older gen cards and at get something semi current. That 9xxx series chip is quite old and the extra few bucks into a 4850 would be worth it on both the performance and future proofing front.
 


Unless it's a 9800GTX/GTX+, in that case it performs just as good as the 4850. (performs better than the 4850 in most situations if the AA isn't turned up a lot)

i hate ati cards i stay away from them all much as i could, there drivers sucks no matter what, all friends who had ati all have the same probs, and the 4850 is about as fas at the 9600gt my friend has that one :sleep:

I am curious what kind of computer do you have? I am not sure you need a 8800 even? Because all of this extra power may be worthless? Its hard to compare a 9600 and a 4850 because if they are in comparable computers the 4850 would win. But if your friend with the 9600 has a good computer, and your friend with the 4850 has a shitty one, well that would explain it.
