im getting ready to crossfire a 4890 xoc - do you think my cpu would be bottle necked? (it's at 3gzh quad 1 terbit hard drive- with only 178 gigs used) 4 gigs or ram

You are fine. Get the second card. You could just do a mild overclock to 3.2ghz to eliminate a slight bottleneck.

I think you would be a little limited at stock speeds so you may want to look into overclocking your CPU. Also, make sure your motherboard has 2 16x slots or 2 8x slots. Using something like a 16x/4x setup will certainly affect performance. In some games the effect is alot worse than others.
