I am trying to install Win2000 (regular) using RAID1 on my mITX mobo that has Intel Q35 & ICH9DO chipset. I read that Win2000 does not have support for RAID function prior to ICH7 but read people were able to get it running.
Has anyone encounter this and got it working? Are you setting up the RAID prior to OS installation? or afterwards under the Windows environment? If so, can anyone help guide me through?
The most recent Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver from Intel's website for Win2000 is Ver:5.5.0.1035 with support up to ICH7. For WinXP Pro it is Ver:8.8.0.1009 but no 2000 support.
Can't you upgrade to Windows XP or Vista? You can't expect Intel to support an OS that's obsolete.
No, it is a customer's request on a certain project. I still have a lot of inquiry for Win2000 and Win2003 Server support. Forcing them to upgrade to XP will just be a band-aid.

So do I, I tell them no. You are free to do that.

A band-aid for what? The problem you have is that the OS isn't supported, anymore. Using an OS that is supported is a definitive solution to the problem, not a band-aid.
Application compatibility between W2K server and W2K3 server is very high, there are vanishingly few applications designed for W2K that wouldn't be compatible with W2K3.
You can try to use the latest XP/2003 drivers with W2K. If they are built using the Microsoft WDK/DDK, they should have a high degree of backwards compatibility. Generally speaking, Microsoft driver models are a lot better at backwards compatibility than forward.
